There are constant interchanges of information between laboratory chemists, educators and formulators and doctors ensuring rapid assimilation of new knowledge and requirements in the market. Quality control is regarded as an absolute priority. Whilst maintaining value for money, Skinmedics maintains its philosophy that quality, effectiveness and end user satisfaction must be the overriding aim of all its endeavours. This is confirmed by the use of superior packaging for its products in sealed containers when necessary to prevent oxidation and contamination rather than the cheaper jars and lids.
The wide range of products are designed to be used synergistically in specific combinations. In line with the needs of the professionals using and advising on the Skinmedics range , Skinmedics Global Skincare Systems uses complex ,proven ingredients at levels aimed to achieve positive results over the shortest possible time and able to maintain improvements over the longer period. For instance, Argiriline® discussed below must be used at concentrations of 10 to 20 per cent to produce the desired results and Matrixyl® also discussed below needs to be at a concentration of 3 to 5 per cent. These ingredients are combined with scientifically evaluated delivery systems to ensure that the ingredients used reach the desired target.
Additionally, parabens are no longer used in any of the Skinmedics formulations to allow an improved newer generation of preservatives to be substituted instead.
Skinmedics has a particular focus on using innovative ingredients. This incorporates the use of the latest and most effective of the peptides in many of its products ranging to concentrations high enough to be almost unheard of in other skincare ranges. These include Matrixyl (palmitoyl pentapeptide) a patented ingredient manufactured and sold by Sederma SA in Paris. This ingredient has been shown by research to stimulate the formation of collagen,elastin and GAGs (glycosaminoglycans) in the dermal layer of the skin. Many other peptides are also utilised to provide maximal performance products. These are constantly updated in line with current research.
Argiriline® (acetyl hexapeptide-3) is a further peptide developed by scientists at Lipotec in Barcelona, Spain which reduces muscle contractions by preventing the chemicals(catecholamines)(which normally act as signals for muscle contractions) from operating. This is undertaken without paralysis. It is of course important to explain to the client that results with peptides are not immediate and may take 2 to 12 weeks to materialise.
